High Representative for LDCs meets Fakhruddin

NEW YORK, Sept 27 (UNB): High Representative for least developed countries (LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC) and Small Island Developing (SID) countries Cheick Sidi Diarra called on Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed.
During the meeting with the Chief Adviser at his Hotel suit Wednesday Diarra said Bangladesh has many success stories in various fields including microfinance and achieving millennium development goals (MDGs), which he said can be shared with the LDCs.
The Chief Adviser said Bangladesh would feel happy to share its experiences and said office of the High Representative should work as advocacy in favour of LDCs in partnership with the related organisations like United Nations, civil society, media and academia.
The CA said Bangladesh firmly committed to the cause of LDCs and assured full cooperation for activities of the High Representative office of LDC, LLDC and SID countries.
First High Representative of LDC, LLDC and SID countries was from Bangladesh. Main job of the HR office is to raise issues concerning the LDCs aiming at alleviating poverty.
Cabinet Secretary Ali Imam Majumder and Bangladesh Permanent Representative to UN Ismat Jahan were present in the meeting.
