The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood on Wednesday said it has become a global challenge to prevent grafts like money laundering and tax evasion due to technological advancements.
He said the world has entered into the era of Fourth Industrial Revolution and coping with the technological shift, the nature of corruption has also been constantly changing.
The ACC chairman made the remark at the 19th International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) organised virtually from Seoul of South Korea.
27 members of the ACC team led by its chairman are participating in the six-day virtual conference that began on November 30 and will continue till December 05.
In his speech, Mr Mahmood said in order to keep pace with the latest industrial revolution, the commission needs to adopt new concepts.
"Our efficiency must be of international standard and strategies have to be improved to tackle new challenges towards preventing corruption," he said. The team of the commission supervised by its Commissioner (Prevention) AKM Sohel are participating at 26 important sessions of the conference.
The theme of this year's IACC is "Designing 2030: Truth, Trust & Transparency, ensuring that the fight against corruption is at the centre of the post-pandemic world."
