Saturday, 5 September 2009

FE Report
Police arrested about 30 activists of Hijbut Tahrir, an Islami outfit, during their rowdy protest at Paltan in the city Friday.
An officer of the Paltan police station told the FE that they arrested the 30 Hijbut Tahrir members, as they attacked the police from their procession brought out with sticks and brickbats shortly after the Jumma prayer.
"We intercepted their procession as they created panic among the passers-by by blockading roads adjacent to the Baitul Mukarram national mosque," he added.
The police also recovered 114 sticks from their possession.
Witnesses said about 500 members of Hijbut Tahrir brought out the procession with sticks after Jumma prayer from the North Gate of the national mosque.
Branding the present government as anti-Islam, they said rule of Islamic laws would not be possible under this government. They warned that the government would not survive two and half years if it continued their anti-Islam activities.
