Hili landport goes to pvt management

Tuesday, 27 November 2007

DINAJPUR, Nov 26: The Hili landport that handles export-import trade with neighbouring India and Nepal was handed over Monday to the private management with the hope of higher government revenue income. Panama Port Ltd was awarded the management of the port under a lease agreement signed in October 2005. Under the agreement, Panama Port will get 51 per cent and the government 49 per cent of the revenue collected at the port. Speaking at the handing over ceremony in the afternoon, Chairman of Bangladesh Landports Development Authority Aftab Hossain hoped that revenue income from the Hili landport would increase under the private management. — UNB
