Hingis to fight positive test

Thursday, 8 November 2007

LONDON, Nov 7 (AFP): Former world number one Martina Hingis will fight her positive drugs test, her manager confirmed Wednesday.
Hingis, 27, announced her retirement on November 1 after admitting she was under investigation for a positive test for cocaine. She indicated at the time however that she would not be challenging the result.
But her manager Mario Widmer told BBC Sport: "She will be fighting this, of course. You can be clear about that. The matter is currently with her lawyers."
Hingis revealed she had returned a positive result for cocaine from a routine urine sample taken at this year's Wimbledon after losing in the third round.
