Hiring medical technologists
Thursday, 24 October 2019
Healthcare is now a package of combined efforts of different professional groups -- doctors, nurses, medical technologists, hospital managers and other staffers. Diagnosis of a disease depends on different types of tests that are carried out by medical technologists (MTs). To detect a disease and measure its severity, the role of MTs is critical as medical tests determine how a patient would be treated and cure. Doctors cannot prescribe proper medication with accurate test reports.
However, the government's healthcare entities across the country were struggling in providing medicare facilities to patients due to shortage of MTs. Even Bangabandhu Shaikh Mujibur Medical University is reportedly running without adequate number of MTs. Media reports said some 550 government healthcare entities need about 50,000 MTs. Only about 6,500 MTs are now working there. Appointment of adequate number of healthcare personnel is important to reach medical services to the doorstep of the people.
