Human Mobile Devices (HMD), the European company behind Nokia-branded mobile phones, has officially entered the Bangladesh market with the launch of its own-brand handset, the HMD 101, assembled locally by technology distributor Salextra Limited.
The feature phone was unveiled at Momo Inn Hotel in Bogura on July 7 in the presence of distributors and retailers from northern Bangladesh.
According to the company, the HMD 101 is designed for users seeking reliable everyday communication as well as professionals and travellers who prefer a secondary device with long battery life. The handset features a 1,000mAh battery offering up to seven hours of talk time, dual LED torch, MP3 player, wireless FM radio, automatic call recording and expandable storage of up to 32GB.
HMD General Manager for Emerging Asia Vivek Khandelwal said Bangladesh is a key market for the company. Business Manager Kazi Alamin said feature phones remain the primary communication device for millions of Bangladeshis.
