Bangladesh hockey officials were brave enough to announce that they would love to win silver medal in the forthcoming 11th South Asian Games in Bangladesh scheduled to begin from January 29 despite both sub-continent hockey giants India and Pakistan confirming their participation, reports BSS.
The officials of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation showed their determination during the team declaration at the BOA House in the city Wednesday.
Khandokar Jamiluddin, the general secretary of the hockey federation provided a realistic picture. "In the last edition of the SA Games Bangladesh failed to bag the bronze, after their year long preparation we should not have any problem in winning the bronze but deep inside our heart, we have some dream of beating either India or Pakistan to play in the final.
German coach Rach Gerhard Peter the driving force behind the hockey team for the last year expressed the hope saying year long preparation have toughened the boys.
He said, " The players have benefited from the European tour and the year long preparation. Boys are now seen both Asian and European hockey and hopefully take lessons to realise their dream. My realistic target is the bronze but there is no harm in setting plans for bigger goal like beating India or Pakistan," said Rach.
Skipper Moshiur Rahman Biplob, also sounded confident and said, "We have worked hard; therefore, hoping for something special is not wrong".
