Holding convocation for NU students

Friday, 2 September 2022

For a university student, convocation is a much-awaited ceremony. At this programme, a graduating student receives academic degrees in front of the university's chancellor, vice-chancellor, provost, faculty members and family and friends in the audience. The culture of organising convocation is a common feature in our public and private universities. However it is unfortunate that most of the National University (NU) students are deprived of such a programme since the university does not hold convocation for its students.
It is a dream for every university student to be honoured with a convocation programme at the end of their university life. But sadly, this is unimaginable for around 400,000 students who graduate every year from the NU. The first ever convocation of NU, since its establishment in 1992, was held on January 17, 2017. Since then the university maintains silence over its second convocation. If the NU authorities do not look after their students, where will the students go? Is this university only for taking exams and distributing certificates?
