Holiday mood at secretariat
Sunday, 27 July 2014
Secretariat, the seat of nation’s bureaucracy, was almost empty on Sunday. As the last working day before Eid started, most of the officers and staff signed the attendance register and left for home. After 11:30am, very few officers were found at their desks. The visitor’s room at the secretariat was empty. Public administration ministry officials said less than 60 per cent of public officials were present at the secretariat on Sunday. Dhaka residents usually take an extra 1 or 2 days of leave to add to the three-day Eid holiday, to visit their village home. Since the Eid vacation starts on Monday this year, many have taken a leave for Sunday, according to bdnews24.com.
