FE Report
The overcrowded Dhaka city was still in a holiday mood on the first working day Sunday after Eid-ul-Azha vacation. This year the three-day Eid holiday was coincided with two-day weekend on Friday and Saturday. The usual gridlock was absent much to the relief of traveling public.
Attendance in different offices was thin on the day. Those who attended office passed the day by exchanging Eid greetings with each other.
The main entrance to the secretariat, the highest seat of administration, that always remains crowded on working days, looked deserted and the number of vehicles inside the secretariat complex was much less than usual.
A small number of officials and employees were present at the secretariat while many were reportedly on an extended leave to spend more time with their near and dear ones.
A high official of Finance Ministry said the ministers came to the secretariat and exchanged greetings with the officials of their respective ministries.
It is assumed that the situation will return to normal within a couple of days.
