Holland to give financial support to pvt sector entrepreneurs

The Dutch government will provide financial support to the private sector entrepreneurs of Bangladesh for investment in small and medium enterprises in joint ventures with the companies of the Netherlands in the country.
"In providing assistance we will focus some sectors like agriculture, energy, transport, environment and tourism", Paul Schoenmakers," regional programme manager of the Netherlands Foreign Trade Agency (EVD), said at a seminar in the city Tuesday.
The Embassy of the Netherlands in collaboration with the Dutch-Bangla Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DBCCI) organised the seminar styled 'Private Sector Development Programmes between the Netherlands and Bangladesh' that aims at sensitising the private sector entrepreneurs of the country as to how to avail the opportunity offered by the Dutch government.
BM ten Tusscher, the ambassador of the Netherlands to Bangladesh, Asif A Chowdhury, president of DBCCI, and representatives of various industries and associations took part in the seminar with Suhel Ahmed Choudhury, former secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, in the chair.
The EVD, under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, recently took initiatives to stimulate foreign direct investment and pro-poor growth in Bangladesh through private sector development, a statement of the Netherlands embassy said.
It said there are two programmes styled Programme for Cooperation with Emerging Markets (PSOM) and Development Cooperation Matching Facility.
Paul Schoenmakers, regional programme manager of the EVD, made a presentation on 'Support for Private Sector Development Initiatives by EVD in Bangladesh' in the seminar.
He said the financial support is provided through the PSOM with the objectives to promote sustainable economic and private sector development.
