Honey and beeswax collection starts in Sundarbans

KHULNA, Apr 4: The procurement of honey and beeswax from the Sundarbans has been started from Friday. Meanwhile, most of the Mouwalis have collected their pass-permit from the station offices of forest department to collect honey and beeswax. The target of honey and beeswax collection has been fixed at about 12 thousand maunds in this year. Five to six thousand Mouwalis go to Sundarban to collect honey every year. Source said that issuance of pas-permit started from Friday and the session of honey collecting continue till June-30. The pass-permit is given from nine station offices of forest department of west Sundarbans. The stations offices are: Nalian, Kalabagi, Sutarkhali, Baniakhali and Kashiabad under Khulna range and Kobadak, Burigoalini, Kadamtata and Kaikhali under Satkhira range. Golpata seized Another report says: The forest guard of east Sundarban seized a trawler loaded with Golpata without pass-permit recently. The seized trawler and Golpata were handed over to the Swarankhola station office of Bagerhat district. Forest department source said that on a secret information forest guards of Swaronkhola range seized the Golpata laden trawler from ferry ghat area of Morelganj Upazila. None was arrested. A case has field in this connection.
