The IUT Career and Business Society (IUT CBS) has launched the sixth edition of 'INTERN,' an innovative and vibrant intra-IUT novice business case competition. Since 2018, the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) campus has hosted this flagship event for freshers.
For business-minded IUTians, INTERN is a must-go-to platform. For engineering students, it helps bridge the gap between engineering and business as well as broaden their analytical thinking capability to enter professional life. Everyone starts as a beginner, and INTERN is the starting platform, which is open only to first-year IUT students and runs in teams of three to four members.
It provides beginners with guidance and support. The competition is designed to tailor, monitor, and test the skills required to solve a case successfully. The cases are crafted to facilitate participants' understanding of marketing, branding, financial analysis, strategic solutions, and several other essential topics.
Over the past few years, both the previous winners and participants of INTERNS have expressed a deep affection for the programme. The specialist's first lesson served as an accelerator for first-year students, expediting their transition into the world of case competitions and inspiring them to participate and explore more. In INTERN 2023, 300 people participated; this year, they are aiming for an even higher number of enthusiasts.
The competition this year consists of three rounds. Each round aims to evaluate participants' strategic planning, analytical thinking, and presentation abilities. The first round of cases was released on July 07. About 61 teams registered for the first round. This round presented an online case on the telecommunications segment. Only around 18 teams will be qualifying for the second round on July 15. The qualifying teams from the first round will advance to the semi-finals based on their excellence. In the final round, selected teams will have the chance to present their solutions in person.
The final round will take place on August 02. This year, Intern 2024 is even bigger, with an offline round for the final showdown. INTERN is not only paving the way to enter the case competition world; it also ensures huge opportunities. It also organises insightful sessions led by distinguished business professionals and esteemed alumni, designed to provide hands-on knowledge about business cases.
IUT CBS remains committed to cultivating curiosity in upcoming global business leaders, and it all begins with an internship. Additionally, there are plenty of prizes and gifts available. In addition, industry specialists will lead online workshops before each round. These workshops will provide valuable insights, practical tips, and guidance for approaching the cases, as well as enlightening their knowledge.
Regarding the event, the president of the club, Rohan Arpon, mentioned, "INTERN 2024 provides students with a unique platform to develop skills beyond the classroom, enhancing their strategic thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork capabilities." He focused on how the event is designed to foster holistic development, ensuring students acquire practical skills crucial for both personal and professional growth.
The IUT Career and Business Society (IUT CBS) continues to foster the growth of future business leaders through its innovative 'INTERN' competition. With its comprehensive design, INTERN equips participants, the event promises significant growth opportunities for aspiring professionals.
