Horrifying child abuse must stop
Sunday, 30 August 2015
The news of child abuse and torturing is rampant in society as is evident from our media. We often read spine chilling stories in newspapers and watch frightening visuals in television channels. Sometimes I wonder if we are turning into a bunch of heartless human beings with the rapid advent of science and technology. To me it seems, as if we are gradually turning into a pre-programmed robots from compassionate human beings. We see a trend of impunity which is defending the offenders from punishment and consequently encouraging the criminals to continue committing such heinous crimes, as they know if they have power they can escape the long hand of the law and evade any punishment. If justice is established, we shall definitely see a declining trend in the ongoing spate of in crime in the society. Child abuse is a crime that goes on silently and it has been going on for a long time. It should be widely publicized in the media to make the general people aware of the extent of problem it poses for the society. Moreover, there should be regular follow-up of such incidents so that the offenders cannot get away with it under any pretext. We need to organize ourselves and stand united against these crimes so that recurrence of such crimes subsides automatically. We need to build up a society where law reigns supreme and our future generation gets enough freedom and safety to grow up and be the persons they want to be.
