PANCHAGARH, Oct 25: There are many farmers who are becoming self employed through advanced seasonal horticulture in Panchagarh district. They are being more benefited as they are getting high price of their vegetable products.
The soil of Panchagarh is very suitable for growing different kinds of vegetables such as gourd, bringal, carrot, potato, karallah etc. Now these are available in different markets of Panchagarh. But their selling price is high. Brinjal is sold at Tk 35, radish at 20 taka, karallah at 30 taka and bean at 60 taka per kg
Farmers have cultivated more vegetables for getting higher prices. A farmer of Kartonhari village said he earned about Tk 13,000 this year by cultivating radish and other vegetables. Thus a good number of farmers are earning good amounts by cultivating winter crops in Panchagarh district.
In this way they are becoming self-employed.
