Hospital vandalised over patient\\\'s death

Angry relatives vandalised a hospital and assaulted two people, including a physician, in Chandpur in connection with the death of a patient for alleged negligence of treatment. The deceased was identified as Shamsul Haque Munshi, 55, resident of Muminpara of the district town. Sources at the hospital said critically ill Shamsul was admitted to ‘Royal Hospital’, a private hospital located at Chitralekha intersection around 11:30am. As the patient’s condition deteriorated, on-duty doctor Ashis Kumar Pande advised the family members to take him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). At one stage, Shamsul died in the hospital. Outraged by the death, the relatives of the patient vandalised the hospital furniture and beat up Ashis Kumar Pande and hospital manager Sohel Ahmed, leaving them injured. Shamsul’s family members alleged that he died due to the negligence of treatment at the hospital, according to UNB.
