Hostel for working women in every dist

State Minister for Women and Children’s Affairs Meher Afroze has said the government has decided in principle to set up a hostel for working women in every district in phases. The junior minister said this while addressing a cheque distribution ceremony at the office of Jatiya Mahila Sangstha in the city. The cheques were distributed to women voluntary associations registered under the Department of Women Affairs. She said that the women have to learn to be self-reliant economically with a view to ensuring women’s empowerment in a real sense. “They have to struggle by forging unity through association. And the ministry is working to implement its goals,” she added. There are 17,693 women associations registered under the department of women’s affairs. Of them, 3,791 associations got some Tk73.5 million (Tk7.35 crore) donation for 2014-2015 fiscal year, according to a news agency.
