Hotels are essential for tourism industry: Iftekhar

The management of Westin Dhaka arranged an event to introduce The Westin Dhaka Wednesday night at its grand ballroom. People from different segments including corporate high officials and diplomats were present.
Among others Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, Advisor, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh graced the occasion as chief guest.
The Charge d' Affaires, of the Embassy of the United States of America Geeta Pasi was present as the guest of honor.
Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury in his speech said, "Infra-structural development including construction of hotels and enhancement of facilities is essential for tourism industry to flourish. To accelerate progress in this sector we are extending support and cooperation to private entrepreneurs, both local and foreign. I hope that everybody connected with the tourism industry and travel-loving tourists will feel encouraged by our endeavors. I am confident that the opening of the Westin Dhaka will not just provide accommodation to a larger number of guests but also actually provide world-class service".
Geeta Pasi said "Let me congratulate you on the occasion of introducing the Westin Dhaka, the city's newest, five-star luxury hotel. In the short time that the Westin's doors have been open, I have already heard rave reviews of the services and amenities it offers. I have had a chance to sample some of the hotel's delicious cuisine, and a number of my colleagues have been satisfied guests of the hotel during recent visits to Dhaka".
She further said, "The modern profile of the Westin building stands out in Gulshan. This striking building is a symbol of the dynamic growth that Bangladesh has witnessed in recent years and represents confidence that this will continue into the future".
