Housewife dies after suicide attempt

A young housewife, who attempted to kill herself on December 22, died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Saturday afternoon. The dead is Papia, 20, wife of Sabuj Ali, a resident of Fakirabad area in Mirpur Upazila in Kushtia district. The deceased’s father Abbas Miah, a resident of Mallikpara area of the same Upazila, said Papia had a tiff with her husband Sabuj over going to her friend’s house on the occasion of marriage of her friend on December 22. Later, she in a huff with her husband attempted to kill herself by hanging from the ceiling of her room on that day. Sensing the incident, her family members rescued her and first, they took her to Kushtia Sadar Hospital. The doctor of the hospital referred her to RMCH as her condition deteriorated. She succumbed to her injuries at RMCH on Saturday afternoon, according to a news agency.
