Housewife dies for dowry

LUXMIPUR, July 12 (UNB): A housewife succumbed to her burn injuries after she was set afire allegedly by her husband for dowry at Pashchim Luxmipur village in Sadar upazila on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Salma Begum, wife of Khalil, a resident of the village.
Police said Khalil, son of Shahid Ullah, married Salma, daughter of Sanaullah, a resident of Char Lamchari village of the upazila, three months ago.
After their marriage, Khalil demanded a substantial amount of money as dowry from Salma and often tortured her for it.
On the fateful night, Khalil picked up a quarrel with Salma over the issue.
