Housewife killed allegedly by husband

A housewife was strangulated to death allegedly by her husband for dowry in Shalikha Upazila in at Magura on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Popy Khatun, 19, wife of Akash Ali of Sabek Khator village. Polcie said Popy Khatun’s husband ‘Akash’ used to torture his wife for dowry since their marriage. Popy filed a case with a court in this connection. Family members claimed Akash called his wife out of her father’s house at Sabek Khator village in the early hours of Saturday. Later on Saturday noon, locals found the body of Popy in a field of the village and informed police. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Akash fled the scene after the incident, according to a news agency.
