Housewife killed by lightning strike

A housewife was killed as a streak of thunderbolt hit her at Gilabari in Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon district on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Karuna Rani, 40, wife of Gopal Chandra, a resident of the village. Local sources said Karuna was hit by a lightning strike while she was working on her courtyard during rainfall in the afternoon in the area, leaving her dead on the spot. Boirchuna Union Parishad Chairman Ayub Ali Chowdhury confirmed the death, according to a news agency.
