Housewife killed for dowry in Shariatpur

SHARIATPUR, Jun 28 (UNB): A housewife, who was tortured by her husband for dowry on Thursday, died at Sadar Hospital on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Shilpi Akhter, 22, wife of Azizul Munsi of Yasin Matbor Kandi village in Sadar upazila.
The victim's family members said Shilpi was frequently tortured by her husband for dowry.
Azizul had an altercation with Shilpi over the issue on Thursday morning and, at one stage, beat her up indiscriminately with stick.
Critically injured, Shilpi was taken to Sadar Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries around 8:30pm on Friday.
