An eight-month pregnant housewife has suffered serious burn injuries in an acid attack allegedly by her husband in Matlab Dakkhin Upazila in Chandpur. The victim, Lucky Chakrabarty, 25, was undergoing treatment at Chandpur General Hospital on Thursday. Lucky was married to Bishu Chakrawarty, a rural doctor at Boalia village, two years back, said victim’s mother Bhanu Majumder. She said the trouble in Lucky’s conjugal life began since she has got pregnant. Bishu was deadly against having any baby as he has already got four children – two daughters and two sons – from his first wife who died in a fire incident, said Bhanu. On Tuesday morning, Bishu allegedly threw acid at his wife in her sleep, leaving her critically injured. Medical officer of Chandpur General Hospital Dr Sirajul Islam said Lucky needs better treatment as her upper part of the body suffered serious burn injuries, according to a news agency.
