FE Report
The country's first ever housing fair for companies building apartment houses in prime tourism spots begins in the city today (Thursday) at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel.
A total of 60 housing companies who have projects at tourist sites, especially in Cox's Bazar and Kuakata, will participate in the show.
Parjatan Real Estate Investors' Association of Bangladesh (PRIAB), a newly formed body to promote real estate business in tourism sector, organised the fair, aiming at attracting people to invest in tourism infrastructure.
Textiles and Jute Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui will inaugurate the fair.
"The government alone cannot develop the country's tourism sector. Both the locals and the non-resident Bangladeshis need to invest in the potential sector to help the country earn more foreign currency," M Enayetullah, president of PRIAB, said at a press conference in the city Wednesday.
He said tourism sector can become one of the top foreign currency earners if infrastructure including hotel, motel, road and air transport system is sufficiently developed.
Mr. Enayet said 20 modern changing rooms are being set up on Cox's Bazar sea beach sponsored by the association.
He said the association has a plan to deploy 24-hour security guards on Cox's Bazar sea beach to ensure security of the tourists.
The association will also support a plan to provide security to the tourists during natural calamities, he added.
The three-day fair will remain open for visitors from 9.00 am to 8.00 pm and the entry fee is Tk 50.
