HSBC launches business plan writing competition

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Ltd in Bangladesh has launched the 'Young Entrepreneurs Awards 2009-10 (YEA)' - a business plan writing competition - for the fourth time in the country.
YEA is aimed at fostering a prudent attitude towards knowledge on business amongst university students and gaining insights for real-life implementations, HSBC Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Prakash said at a press conference in the city Wednesday.
He expressed hope that Bangladesh would continue to produce talented young entrepreneurs that could compete and win laurels on the global stage.
Prakash said the goal of this competition is to promote a culture of business and technology development amongst the future leaders of the country based on local needs and global business demands.
The competition will be held in three phases with team of 2/3 students under the age of 25 years. The interested teams are requested to submit a business plan at YEA website www.asiayea.com by January 24, 2010.
A minimum of 30 teams will be selected for the second round and provided with workshop on business plan writing.
A total of seven teams of the 30 will compete for the gold, silver and bronze award worth Tk 70,000, Tk 40,000 and Tk 30,000 respectively.
They will be provided with a second workshop on presentation skills and to be present in front of judges on April 4, 2010.
The gold team from Bangladesh will compete for the regional 'Best of the Best' award with the gold teams from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Brunei.
