FE Report
The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations began Thursday across the country amid allegation of question paper leakage.
Besides, the students and their guardians also fear further question paper leakage ahead of the subjects like English first paper and second paper.
Engineer Abu Taleb, president of the Abhibhabok Samonnoy Parishad, Bangladesh, told the FE that the students and guardians are always afraid of question paper leakage as it becomes often true.
"Some students and guardians during the Primary School Certificate (PSC) examinations were found with leaked question paper that sparked concern among the HSC examinees and their guardians," he added.
However, the guardians' leader denied getting any leaked question paper or allegation in this regard on the first day of the examination on Thursday.
Meanwhile, police detained Thursday night some unscrupulous people who were selling 'what they said leaked' question paper from Brahmanbaria and Sherpur districts. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid refuted the allegation of question paper leakage from any part of the country and termed the allegation just a 'rumour' to tarnish the image of the government.
He said the ministry concerned is quite aware of the leakage and has taken strict security measures in this respect. "We have even special arrangement for dispatching question papers to the distant examination centres," he added.
When asked about the alleged leakage of question paper, Mr Nahid told the newsmen that following allegation of the leakage, the authorities have taken immediate measures and detained the unscrupulous people.
"Nevertheless, the authorities did not find similarity of the real question paper with the 'leaked' one on the first day of examination held Thursday," he added.
Mr Nahid called upon the political parties not to give any major programme during the public examination.
This year a total of 1,141,374 students from 8,104 schools are participating in the country's one of the largest public examinations. Some 9,24,171 students under the eight general education boards while 1,07,557 students under the Madrasah Education Board, 104669 students under the Technical Education Board and only 4977 students under the DIBS are taking part in the examinations.
Exams on 25 subjects including Bangla first paper will be held under the creative question method. The minister also told newsmen that the results will be published within 60 days after the completions of the written examinations.
