Huawei tapped for Citycell network expansion

The country's oldest cellphone operator Citycell will expand this year its network focussing on voice and data services, the company chief said Tuesday. As part of the network expansion drive, the company inked an agreement with the Chinese network solution giant Huawei at a city hotel. Under the agreement, Huawei will be responsible for maintaining and managing the telecommunication network service of the operator for the next five years. Mehboob Chowdhury of Citycell and Zhao Yong of Huawei signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. Speaking on the occasion, Mehboob Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer, said, "We are committed to continuously develop and use our network at the optimum level". "Huawei has experience in managed service, so we will be able to bring newer and latest mobile telecommunication services to the Bangladesh market," Mr Chowdhury said. Referring to the partnership agreement as milestone, Liu Jiangfeng, Southern Pacific Regional President of Huawei, said the network solution company had been supporting Citycell to deliver 'excellent' services to customers through providing quality services and equipment. - FE Report
