Huawei Technologies Ltd, a giant telecom solution provider, signed a contract Tuesday with GrameenPhone, the largest cell phone operator in Bangladesh for large scale capacity expansion and enhancement of next generation GSM core and radio network.
"We are delighted to choose Huawei as our second GSP equipment supplier," said CEO of GP after signing the deal at a hotel Tuesday evening. "We are proud to be partner with GP," said Kevin Tao, senior vice-president of Huawei.
The AII-IPcore network will help GP build a more robust and flexible network with simplified architecture, both sides hoped.
The signing of contract, the biggest ever deal in the mobile phone sector, was largely attended by high officials of GP and Huawei. It was followed by a cultural soiree.
