Monday, 21 March 2011

SANAA, Mar 20 (AFP): A massive crowd gathered in Yemen's capital Sunday for the funerals of political activists who were among more than 50 protesters gunned down by snipers during a demonstration in Sanaa. At least 28 bodies were laid out as the crowd massed under tight security near Sanaa University, the centre of more than a month of protests which have shaken the regime of President Ali Abdullah Saleh. "These people must be held responsible for every drop of blood that has been shed," said Ali Abed Rabbo al-Qadi, head of an independent parliamentary bloc, who was among those attending the funerals.
