Huge crowd thronging Rangpur markets for Eid shopping

RANGPUR, July 20 (BSS): Huge sales with thronging crowds are being observed in the markets in Rangpur division where hundreds of people are purchasing Eid items of own choice even a week ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr festivity.
Traders at different markets, shops, malls, complexes and makeshifts wayside markets told the national news agency that Eid shopping has already reached at the highest peak amid tight security measures with maximum sales now.
The shopping places have been wearing festive looks since 10 am daily with hundreds of the rushing men, women, girls, boys, students, youths and adolescents for buying Eid items and their movements have been creating traffic jams in every town till midnights.
Police sources said security measures have been tightened to enable the rushing people marketing without any problem and no untoward incidents were reported so far as most of the muggers and anti-social elements have been arrested.
According to the market sources and Eid-shoppers, prices of clothes for males, females, babies and children are 40 to 50 percent higher this time than last year and increased price has almost no impact on the rushing people purchasing their goods of own choice.
People from all over Rangpur division have been rushing mostly to Jahaz Company Shopping Complex, Zila Parishad Super Market, Golden Tower, Zila Parishad Biponi Bitan, Rajanigandha, Shah Amanat, Salek Market, Jamal Market, Rajib Gandhi Market, Honumantola Market, City Plaza, Moti Plaza, Station Market, Bismillah Garments, Madina Garments, Maya Exclusive Faison House, Rangoon and other aristocrat markets and shopping malls in the city.
The female students, young girls and adolescents are mostly purchasing three pieces of both local and foreign origins with various designs like 'Tumili', 'Chhanchhan', 'Ranjona', Anar Koli', 'Jhilik-2', 'Khushi', 'Jibika', Discochally', 'Chhammakchhalla', 'Oiswariya', 'Ulalla', 'Agnikonnya', 'Soti', 'Aksara', 'Heroin', 'Murder-3', 'Chennai', 'Sonakshi' and others at higher rates than last year.
Talking to BSS, traders and businessmen community leaders at the bigger and sophisticated shopping malls here said that selling is excellent this year because of better economic condition and increased incomes of all people.
According to market sources, each of the three pieces is being sold at rates between Taka 600 to 12,000, saree between Taka 500 and 25,000, pant pieces between Taka 400 and 1,200, shirt pieces between Taka 500 and 1,400 and so on.
At the same time, selling of cosmetics and other goods has also reached at the peak in the bigger and sophisticated shopping malls and traditional markets in Rangpur city and other districts and the selling will further increase in the coming days.
The businessmen expressed satisfactions on sales of Eid clothes, shoes, cosmetics and other goods and said that the sales would continue to increase daily just ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr festivity everywhere.
