Huge smuggled spices coming inahead of Eid

Our Correspondent NILPHAMARI, Oct 25: A huge quantity of spices are being smuggled from India into the country's bordering areas of Dinajpur and Joypurhat district ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. Sources said demand for spices that remains at a nominal level round the year but sky rockets ahead of Eid. In the northwestern region of the country Hili of Dinajpur district is known as the focal point of smuggling. At this point different items of smuggled goods come and go round the year but smuggling of spices gets momentum ahead of the Eid. Hili railway station adjacent to Parbotipur railway junction is a safe haven of smuggling. Smuggled spices during this time includes cardamom, clove, cinnamon, turmeric, onion, garlic, chili, coriander, ginger, dry chili, and so on.
