Huji leader remanded

A Dhaka court ordered Tuesday Harkatul Jihad founder Sheikh Abdus Salam to be remanded for interrogation for eight days in connection with a terrorism case, reports bdnews24.com.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Zafar Md Qamruzzaman granted the remand prayer.
Mr Md Abdul Haque, a police officer at the court, said this to the news agency adding that Motijheel police had petitioned for putting the Huji leader on a 10-day remand for quizzing.
An Afghan war veteran, remanded Salam is the chief of Islamic Democratic Party, and was arrested on November 1, 2009.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police took him on remand for interrogation for a number of times.
