Human chain foiled

Police on Monday morning foiled a human chain of admission seekers who arranged the programme demanding cancellation of the results of this year's MBBS and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) admission tests over alleged leak of question papers. A group of students under the banner of ‘Students Seeking Admission in Public Medical Colleges’ formed a human chain in front of National Press Club in Dhaka around 10:30. As police obstructed the human chain, the agitated students locked into altercation with the law enforcers. Police arrested six admission seekers from the spot. The detained students have been kept in police custody at Shahbagh Police Station. Mohammad Abdul Azim, officer-in-charge of the police station, confirmed the incident. Later, the agitated admission seekers along with their guardians gathered in the Central Shaheed Minar area and staged protest there till evening. On Sunday, a writ petition was filed with the High Court seeking its directive on the government to cancel the admission test of MBBS and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) for the 2015-2016 session, claiming that the question papers were leaked, according to a news agency.
