Human chain for protecting Bailey Road govt nursery

Participants at a human chain demanded of the government to immediately stop developing lands of the 67-year-old government nursery in Bailey Road area in the city Friday.
The human chain was organised by the ‘Movement for protecting the Bailey Road Government Nursery’.
The nursery at 33 Bailey Road has been providing 230 species of trees over the last 67 years and thus playing a vital role in the greenery of the city.
Movement’s convenor Mihir Biswas said the nursery has the capacity to distribute more than 1 million saplings a year.
The nursery is regularly providing saplings to government agencies like Bangladesh Army, City Corporation, Roads and Highways Department, according to a news agency.
