Human trafficker held in Cox\\\'s Bazar

COX'S BAZAR, June 3 (UNB): Police in a drive arrested a listed human trafficker from his house at West Choufaldandi in Sadar upazila early Wednesday. The arrestee was identified as Ekram Mia, a union council member of Choufaldandi union. Tipped off, a team of police led by Minhaz Uddin, sub-inspector of Eidgaon police camp, conducted a raid on the house of Ekram around 4am and arrested him, said Bakhtier Uddin Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station. Ekram used to traffic innocent people to various countries through sea and he is accused in several cases filed for human trafficking and murder, said the OC. — UNB
