Human trafficking can be eradicated

Tuesday, 16 June 2015

Human trafficking has assumed an alarming proportion around the world. The evil nexus of the human traffickers is in operation in many countries. As a result, when the law-enforcement agencies of a country clamp down on them, they change their dens and operate from other places or countries. The human traffickers of Bangladesh are not unknown to the law-enforcers. But these criminals  reportedly have links with the high-ups in the country and therefore remain out of reach of the law-enforcement agencies. But what is more important at this point of time is that people should be made well aware of the dangers of illegal immigration. We can create awareness among the people by launching extensive media campaign which will also work as a cautionary signal for the traffickers. Mobile phone companies may be asked to circulate messages of awareness against the unsafe migration through their voice and SMS service which, I believe, will be very effective. It is high time we stood up and fought against the human traffickers. It is encouraging to note that Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand have agreed to cooperate with each other in eradicating this evil trade. We can build cooperation with other countries in the same manner and forge ahead our crusade against inhuman human traders.
