Humayun Kabir becomes SAFA President

Mohammed Humayun Kabir, former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh, has recently been appointed as President of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) for the year 2026.
On the other hand, Probin Kumar Jha from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal has been appointed as Vice President of SAFA, says a press release.
Mr. Kabir has over 45 years of professional experience. He worked at a CA firm from February 1981 to January 1985, at a financial institution from February 1985 to June 1988 and has served the business and industry thereafter.
He was given Poribesh Podok (Environment Award) by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in 2010 and recognised as commercially important person (CIP) for nine years by the Ministry of Commerce.
He was involved with the National Board of Revenue (NBR) as a Facilitator of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) since March 2012 to June 2025. He was associated with Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BGCCI) as a Director (elected 2021-2023) and the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industries (FBCCI) as a Panel Adviser and chairman/convener of different committees and sub-committees for 28 years from 1996 to 2024.
