Husband to die for killing wife in Joypurhat

JOYPURHAT, June 12 (BSS): A court here on Monday sentenced a man to death for killing his wife at Baril village under Akkelpur upazila of the district in 2002.
District Additional and Sessions Judge Court-2 Judge Md Abbas Uddin pronounced the verdict in the absence of the convict Jaimuddin alias Jaddi, resident of the area this afternoon.
The court also fined him Taka 50,000.
According to the case documents, on August 19, 2002 around 7 pm, over a family feud, convict Jaimuddin beat his wife to death and threw her into a pond.
On August 20, police recovered the body from the pond and sent it to the District Modern Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The victim's brother A. Rahman filed a murder case with Akkelpur Police Station the same day.
The investigating officer of the case submitted charge-sheet to the court on November 21, 2002.
After examining the record and witnesses, the court found him guilty.
