Hyundai's net profit up 51.7pc

SEOUL, July 26 (AFP): South Korea's top automaker Hyundai Motor said today its net profit rose sharply in the second quarter to June thanks to cost cuts and brisk sales of premium cars.
Quarterly net profit from worldwide operations soared 51.7 per cent year-on-year to 612 billion won (666 million dollars).
Sales increased 14.6 per cent to 8.27 trillion won. Operating profit was up 40 per cent to 573 billion won, the strongest performance in three years.
For the first half to June, Hyundai posted a net profit of 919 billion won.
