\\\'I carelessly mentioned wrong wealth info\\\'

Tuesday, 25 February 2014

Former Health Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haque apologized on Monday to all Awami League leaders and activists and physicians for submitting his affidavit to the Election Commission (EC) with wrong wealth information before the 10th general election, reports UNB.
"I carelessly and unexpectedly mentioned my wife's bank balance of Tk 75.3 million instead of Tk 4.517 million in the affidavit submitted to the EC before the last general election. Later, I submitted an amended affidavit to Zila returning officer and the EC accepted the amended one," he said.
Dr Ruhal Haque was talking to reporters in front of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) head office after his interrogation on graft charges.
"As a citizen of Bangladesh and a parliament member, I always respect law…I extended all-out cooperation to the ACC inquiry process," he said.
The former minister said he does believe that his long professional reputation and morality will finally win.
Earlier, ACC deputy director Mirza Zahidul Alam started questioning Dr Haque at 10:30 and continued it until 1:45 pm at the ACC head office on charges of amassing wealth illegally, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told the news agency.
Earlier, on January 22, the ACC appointed seven inquiry officials to conduct probes into the allegations of amassing wealth illegally by seven politicians, including the former health minister.
