Iajuddin leaves for US on week-long official visit

President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed left the city for New York Tuesday on a week-long official visit to the United States, reports UNB.
During his departure at the Zia International Airport, Advisers Mainul Hosein, Maj Gen (Retd) MA Matin, Head of the Diplomatic Corps, Cabinet Secretary, Navy and Air Chiefs, Charge d'Affaires of the USA Embassy and high civil and military officials were present.
"He will arrive in New York today (Wednesday) via Dubai by a regular flight of the Emirates Airlines EK 583," said a Bangabhaban announcement.
During his seven-day visit to the USA, the President would attend functions in Ohio and New Orleans.
He would visit Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Centre and deliver lecture on 'Education System of Bangladesh' tomorrow (Thursday).
The day after (Nov 2), the Mayor of Columbus will call on him at his hotel suite in the morning. At noon, the President would perform Juma prayers and visit Noor Islamic Cultural Centre Dublin.
In the afternoon, he will deliver scientific lecture on 'Bangladesh: Problems of Global Warming, Land Inundation and Arsenic Poisoning' at Ohio State University. In the evening, he will attend a reception hosted by the Ohio State University authority.
On November 3, the Governor of Ohio will call on him at the hotel suite in the morning and he will stay the night in Ohio. On November 4, the President will arrive at New Orleans and stay at Hotel Hilton. In the afternoon, he will attend a reception hosted by the Soil Science Society of America.
On November 5, the President will present a scientific paper on 'Bangladesh: Problems of Global Warming, Land Inundation and Arsenic Poisoning' at the Convention Centre of the Hilton Hotel.
On November 6, he will leave New Orleans for New York and stay there. On November 7, the President will leave New York for Dhaka and arrive in the capital on November 8 at 7:30pm by the same way.
Wife of the President Professor Dr Anwara Begum, Military Secretary to the President Major General Aminul Karim, Secretary M Sirajul Islam and officials concerned are accompanying the President on the US trip.
