IBBL holds discussion on Waqf, Zakat

Speakers at a discussion said combination of micro-finance with Waqf, Sadaqah and Zakat can bring diversity and help in poverty alleviation, which is not possible by the traditional micro-financing.
Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) organised the discussion on "Role of Waqf, micro investment, Zakat and Usr for poverty alleviation" and an iftar mahfil at Pan Pacific Sonargaon in the city Saturday.
Former chief justice Syed JR Mudassir Husain was present at the programme as the chief guest and Saudi Ambassador Abdullah Bin Naser Al Bussairy was present as the chief discussant.
IBBL Chairman Abu Nasser Muhammad Abduz Zaher presided over the meeting and the keynote paper was presented by its former chairman Shah Abdul Hannan.
Mohammad Lutfur Rahman, Islami Samaj Kalyan Samitee Mosque Khatib discussed on the topic while the bank's Managing Director M Fariduddin Ahmad delivered the welcome speech.
