IBBL opens SME service centre in Noakhali

The fourth small and medium enterprise (SME) service centre of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) was recently inaugurated at Chaprashirhat, Kabirhat, Noakhali, said a press release.
IBBL board of directors Chairman Abu Nasser Muhammad Abduz Zaher inaugurated the SME Service Centre of the bank as the chief guest.
Kabirhat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) SM Humayan Kabir Sarkar, Metro Homes Limited Managing Director M Fakhrul Islam, Officer In-charge (OC) of Kabirhat thana AKM Kawsar Chowdhury and Chaprashirhat union parishad (UP) Chairman Ziaul Haque Zia attended the function as the special guests. Chaired by IBBL Executive Vice-President and head of Comilla Zone Md Najibur Rahman, the inaugural meeting was addressed, among others, by Shariah Council member of the bank Mufti Sayeed Ahmad, Assistant Vice-President Shahid Ullah Majumder and In-charge of Chaprashirhat SME service centre Md Anwar Hossain.
The IBBL chairman said that the SME became a well-known system throughout the world including Bangladesh.
State-owned banks, private commercial banks and financial institutions of the country are conducting their investment programmes through the system, he said.
With a view to accelerating the wheel of economy and alleviating poverty from the country, the bank has decided to establish SME service centres across the country, he added.
The inauguration of Chaprashirhat SME service centre is a successive effort of this programme, the IBBL chairman mentioned.
Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd has invested the highest amount in agricultural and industrial sectors in order to reach the service of the bank to the doorsteps of the people. "We are going to establish six more SME service centres by the end of 2008," he disclosed.
