IBBL organises w'shop on Islamic banking for Bank of Ceylon officials

The four-day workshop on 'Practice of Islamic Banking' organised for the senior executives of the Bank of Ceylon, Sri Lanka, by Islami Bank Training & Research Academy (IBTRA), opened at the Board Room of Islami Bank Tower in the city Monday.
Chairman of the executive committee of Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd (IBBL) Mominul Islam Patwary was present at the function as the chief guest.
IBBL Executive President M Fariduddin Ahmad presided over the opening session of the workshop.
The opening function was attended, among others, by the top officials of the bank.
A delegation of four members, led by Chief Legal Officer and Deputy CEO of Bank of Ceylon M Kiridaran, is participating in the workshop.
Bank of Ceylon is a state-owned largest Bank of Sri Lanka.
Recently, Bank of Ceylon has introduced Islami Banking wing alongside its traditional banking system after having the approval from Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
With a view to materialising the noble cause, IBBL has arranged this workshop requested by the Bank of Ceylon to have practical experience along with some theoretical knowledge.
Mominul Islam Palwary, in his speech as the chief guest, said Islami Shari'ah, the vital force of Islami Bank and investment of the bank, is open for all irrespective of religion and colour.
He said Islami banking system is the only way to emancipate people from financial exploitation and IBBL is the bright example in this regard.
He said : "Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd is not only the largest bank of Bangladesh but also the best bank.''
He said Islami Bank is providing the most modern facilities using it's own software.
He thanked the participating officials of Bank of Ceylon at the workshop.
IBBL's Executive President M Fariduddin Ahmad, in his presidential speech, said IBBL is going to be established as the recognised bank all over the world. It has brightened the image of the country in international arena.
He gave the assurance to provide all types of cooperation from IBBL to the officials of the Bank of Ceylon.
He laid emphasis upon the compliance of Shari'ah in all segments of banking transaction. He called upon the participants to contact with IBBL for establishing Islami banking system without any hesitation.
