IBBL tops turnover chart amid change in board chairman

Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) topped the turnover chart of the premier bourse following increased transactions executed on Wednesday.
The company featured a value of above Tk 491.6 million and grabbed 8.8 per cent of the turnover registered by Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).
Of the total turnover, above Tk 460 million came from one transaction of above 17 million shares executed in the block board.
Apart from the block board, more than 1.13 million shares worth Tk 31 million were traded in the regular trading floor. The transactions of this amount of shares were executed through 826 trades.
Meanwhile, another change in the IBBL board came on Tuesday as its chairman Arastoo Khan resigned from the post.
According to an IBBL disclosure posted on DSE website, Professor Md. Nazmul Hassan, Ph. D has been elected as the chairman of the company.
On Wednesday, the share price of IBBL rose 2.58 per cent or Tk 0.7 and trading closed at Tk 27.80 per share.
Of other turnover leaders, Beximco featured a value of Tk 412 million and captured 7.3 per cent of the market turnover. The company's share trading closed at Tk 31.20 with a rise of 1.63 per cent per share. More than 13.32 million shares changed hands through 5,143 trades.
Grameenphone featured a turnover of Tk 277 million and captured 4.9 per cent of the market. The company's share trading closed at Tk 490.40 with a rise of 0.62 per cent per share.
Among others, Al-Arafa Islami Bank featured a turnover of Tk 260 million, followed by Brac Bank Tk 197 million, United Power Generation and Distribution Company Tk 180 million, Usmania Glass Sheet Factory Tk 140 million, Advent Pharma Tk 101 million, Alif Industries Tk 98 million and LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Tk 97 million.
