IBBL's deposit reaches Tk 258.87 billion

Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) has earned a total deposit of Tk 258.87 billion (25,887 crore) upto May 31, 2010, showing a growth rate of 20 per cent against the same period of the previous year.
It was disclosed at a day-long zones and branch managers' conference of the bank at its head office in the city recently, according to a press release.
IBBL Chairman Prof Abu Nasser Muhammad Abduz Zaher was present as the chief guest while Executive Committee Chairman Engr Md Eskander Ali Khan and Audit Committee Chairman Md Shahidul Islam were the special guests at the conference.
IBBL Managing Director Mohammad Abdul Mannan presided over the function.
IBBL directors Engr Muhammad Dawood Khan, Mohammed Nazrul Islam and Md Abdus Salam also spoke on the occasion.
The speakers said that the bank has continued its flow of success in deposit, investment and foreign trade including banking operations.
The total investment of the bank reaches Tk 253.72 billion (25,372 crore), showing a growth rate of 18 per cent.
IBBL handled foreign exchange business amounting to Tk 224.39 billion for the last five months, showing a growth rate of 25 per cent against the same period of the last year including import of Tk 83.45 billion, export of Tk 52.91 billion and collected remittance of Tk 88.03 billion showing a growth rate of 37 per cent, 23 per cent and 17 per cent respectively.
Deputy managing directors, top executives of head office, zonal heads and branch managers' of the bank were present in the conference.
On the other hand, IBBL Chairman Prof Abu Nasser Muhammad Abduz Zaher inaugurated the three-month long tree-plantation programme at Mominbag in the city recently organised by rural development scheme of the bank following the slogan 'Sabuj Nagar Sabuj Desh'.
Managing Director Mohammad Abdul Mannan, directors and executives of the bank were present at the programme.
