IBF provides stipends worth over Tk 5.5m

Islami Bank Foundation (IBF) has provided stipends of Tk 5.5 million among a total of 483 students under its education scholarship project from January to June this year.

The foundation dispensed the money of scholarships among 129 students of Dhaka and Faridpur districts under the same project at a function at the city's Institute of Diploma Engineers' Monday.

IBF Member Secretary Mir Kashem Ali, education scholarship implementation committee Chairman Muhammad Sharif Hossain, Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd (IBBL) Managing Director Md Fariduddin Ahmed and Vice-Chairman of IBBL Board of Directors Maulana Jainul Abedin, among others, spoke at the function with IBF Chairman and former Secretary Shah Abdul Hannan in the chair.

Of the total stipend getters, 150 are of SSC and its equivalent level, 200 of Honours and Masters level and 133 of higher level (MPhil, PhD and Bar at Law).

IBF provides education stipends in two phases. SSC and its equivalent students are under the first phase and Honours and Masters level students under the second phase. Each student of the first and the second stage is respectively provided with Tk 5,500 and Tk 9,900 in a year.

The foundation also gives monthly and onetime scholarships to the students at MPhil, PhD and Bar at Law levels to help the meritorious but financially strapped students spread over their research findings for the welfare of the society.
