ICAB elects new executives

Member of the council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) Md Humayun Kabir has been elected president of the organisation for the year 2008.
He was elected at a meeting of the Council of ICAB in the city Saturday, said a press release.
Three vice presidents of the organisation were also elected in the meeting. They are Deputy Managing Director of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Parveen Mahmud, Partner Syful Shamsul Alam and Company, a chartered accountants firm, Md Syful Islam and Finance Director of TK Group of Industries Nasim Anwar.
All of them are members of Council of the ICAB.
After qualifying as chartered accountants Kabir became Associate in 1984 and Fellow in 1989.
He was the chairman of Editorial Board of the Council of ICAB and executive editor of the ICAB quarterly journal "The Bangladesh Accountant" and ICAB monthly news bulletin.
Kabir was also chairman of the IT Committee of ICAB in 2003 and Chairman of Members Services and Welfare Committee in 2006 and 2007.
Kabir is now serving as the chief executive of Jute Division of the Beximco Group.
Meanwhile, the 35th annual general meeting (AGM) of the ICAB also held on the same day. President of the organisation M Farhad Hussain presided over the meeting.
The meeting approved annual report and financial statements for the year 2006-2007 and appointed auditors for the year 2007-2008, the release added.
